This object visualises the essence of letting go
I look out the window and enjoy the well-known view. The keys in my hand, just for a bit longer. Then the chapter of my youth will close, and the house is ready for a new story.
While cleaning out the family home, I faced the challenge of letting go. Each time I evaluated the items, the pile of things I wanted to keep gradually became smaller. Over time, I found comfort in the memories held within my mind rather than in a house filled with sentimental belongings.
While cleaning, I discovered the copper water pipe I used to craft the ring and hinges. As copper is a soft metal, I made an inner lining from another piece of pipe to a perfect fit. You can still see some marks from the pipe's previous life.
This piece is part of my project, "Pebbles Are a Girl's Best Friend." The cherrywood I used came from a transport crate that was once sent to us.
